Biography of Jervase Peterson

Jervase Peterson was born on November 2, 1969, in Philadelphia. He gained fame as a participant in the reality TV show "Survivor: Borneo," which premiered in May 2000 on CBS. Peterson, together with Ramona Gray, became the first African-American "islanders" in the show's history.

During his time on the island, Peterson strategically chose to only work when necessary, conserving his energy for individual challenges in the later rounds. Although this made him appear lazy to the public, it was part of his successful strategy, as he stated. Peterson was the first to try roasted rat and was the only one who found it delicious.

After the two tribes merged on Rattana Island, Peterson became a victim of an alliance formed by Richard Hatch, Kelly Wiglesworth, Rudy Boesch, and Susan Hawk, and was voted out in the 10th episode. The show caused a stir among the American audience when a hacker claimed to have accessed a part of the official "Survivor" website where contestants' photos were stored. All the photos, except for Peterson's, were marked with a cross. This controversy raised suspicions that the show's creators had pre-selected Peterson as the winner. However, two episodes later, he was eliminated from the competition, and CBS admitted that the confusion was intentionally created to deceive viewers and predictors and keep the true winner's identity a secret.

Following his appearance on "Survivor: Borneo," Peterson attempted to capitalize on his popularity and pursue an acting career. His most notable role to date is Leo Thompson in the CBS daytime soap opera "As the World Turns," in which he appeared in 2001. Other television appearances include roles in series such as "Son of the Beach," "Hull High," and "Nash Bridges." He also had significant roles in independent films such as "13th Grade" and "Gateway to Hell" (2006), as well as appearances in movies like "White Men Can't Rap" and "L-O-V-E." Additionally, Peterson made a brief appearance in the film "The Scorned," which featured many personalities from American reality television.

Outside of his entertainment career, Peterson is known for his bald head. He participated in a HeadBlade advertisement, a razor specifically designed for head shaving, thanks to his distinctive feature. Peterson also worked as a model for the clothing company "South Pole." In 2006, he became a co-owner of the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs basketball team in the United States.
