Music Career

As an unconventional artist, Paula struggled to find the right studio to represent her. Her debut album, "Harbinger," was initially released by Imago Records in 1994, but due to limited resources, the studio was unable to promote it effectively, and eventually closed down. However, luck was on Paula's side when she signed a contract with Warner Brothers Records in 1995 and re-released the album as "Fall." Despite being associated with a renowned studio, Paula faced a similar lack of promotion. Undeterred, she took matters into her own hands and self-produced her second album, "The Fire," which was released in 1996. Two singles from the album reached the top of the charts, and some of her songs were featured in the soundtrack of the film "City of Angels" and the popular TV series "Dawson's Creek." Paula received multiple Grammy nominations in 1997 and became the second woman in the world to be nominated for "Producer of the Year." She ultimately won the Grammy for "Best New Artist."

Personal Life and Recent Career

After the birth of her daughter, Sky, Paula took a hiatus from the music industry and returned to active concert performances in 2007. Currently, Paula Cole represents a unique blend of various qualities. She embodies both strength and femininity, softness and toughness. She possesses the talent of a creative artist and the determination of a producer. Despite critics categorizing her as a "sexy kitten" due to her deep and soulful voice, Paula actively distances herself from this image. She does not consider herself a superficial performer who relies on flashy outfits or captivating dance routines. "Even though it may sound old-fashioned, I want to help the world become better," says Paula Cole. "I want to create what is good, kind, and eternal."
