Life and Career of Pavlo Rozenko
Early Life and EducationPavlo Rozenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in a family with a strong legacy of public service. His mother, Valentyna Vasylivna, and his father, Valeriy Petrovych, were prominent citizens. Rozenko's father passed away in 2005.
Rozenko attended Kyiv Secondary School No. 135 and enrolled in the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1987. He graduated in 1993, earning a degree in engineering.
Political and Social Activism
While a student, Rozenko became actively involved in social and political activities. He was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Student Union (USS), Ukraine's first independent student organization. As a leader of the USS, he played a significant role in the "Granite Revolution" of October 1990.
Government Service
Rozenko entered government service in 1994 as an assistant to a member of the Ukrainian Parliament. Over the following years, he held various positions, including:
Head of the Service for Ensuring the Activities of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources (2000-2001)
Assistant to a member of Parliament, Committee on Environmental Protection and Liquidation of the Chernobyl NPP (2001-2005)
First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy (2005)
Head of the Social Policy Service of the Presidential Secretariat (2006-2007)
First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy (2008-2010)
Expert and Social Policy AdvocateFrom 2010 to 2012, Rozenko served as an independent expert on social policy and a leading expert at the Razumkov Center. He authored over 100 publications on social policy, pension reform, and other related topics.
Political Career
In 2012, Rozenko joined Vitali Klitschko's UDAR political party and was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament. As a member of the Verkhovna Rada, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Labor.
In 2014, Rozenko was elected to the 8th Verkhovna Rada on the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko list. He was appointed Minister of Social Policy in December 2014.
Vice Prime Minister
In April 2016, Rozenko was appointed Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine in Arseniy Yatsenyuk's government. He continued in this role in Volodymyr Groysman's government, leading the charge on healthcare, cultural, social, and linguistic policies.
Awards and Recognition
Rozenko was granted the rank of State Civil Servant of the 1st Rank in April 2009. In October 2008, he was awarded the title of Honored Worker of the Social Sphere of Ukraine.
