Biography of Peter Kerrigan

Peter Kerrigan was a prominent figure in the communist and trade union movement in Great Britain. He joined the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) in 1921 and served as a member of the CPGB Central Committee from 1927 to 1929 and again from 1932 to 1965. In 1934 and 1935, he represented the CPGB in the Executive Committee of the Communist International and was a delegate at the Seventh Congress of the Comintern.

In 1935, Kerrigan became a member of the International Control Commission of the Comintern. During the Spanish Civil War, he served as a political commissar in an international brigade. In World War II, he held the position of Head of the Trade Union Department in the CPGB Executive Committee.

From 1943 to 1953, Kerrigan served as the National Organizer of the CPGB. He was also a member of the CPGB Politburo from 1941 to 1965. Throughout his career, Kerrigan was actively involved in promoting communist and trade union principles in Great Britain.
