Education and Career

Mikhail Viktorovich Ignatovski (born 1949) is a renowned Belarusian historian who has made significant contributions to the study of Belarusian history. He graduated from the Faculty of History at Belarusian State University (BSU) in 1971. His doctoral dissertation, "The Socialist Revolutionaries in Belarus (late 19th century - February 1917)," earned him a doctorate in 1995.

Ignatovski's teaching and administrative career at BSU spanned several decades. He served as a professor, pro-rector for academic affairs, head of the Department of Belarusian History of the Modern and Contemporary Period, and first pro-rector. Concurrently, he also served as the rector of the Republican Institute of Higher Education.

Political Career

From 2000 to 2001, Ignatovski was the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus. He subsequently became the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus from 2001 to 2003.

Research and Publications

Ignatovski's research has primarily focused on the political history of Belarus. He has authored over 70 academic publications, including:
