Biography of Petro Hermanchuk

Petro Hermanchuk is a Ukrainian political figure, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, and a former Minister of Finance of Ukraine. He is also recognized as a distinguished economist in Ukraine.

Born on March 14, 1952, in the village of Andreevka, Makarivsky district of the Kyiv region, Petro Hermanchuk began his career as a locksmith at the "Tochelektroprylad" factory in August 1969. In May 1970, he served in the army, and from June 1972, he worked as a locksmith-assembler at the "Chervonyi ekskavator" factory.

From 1972 to 1977, Hermanchuk studied at the Finance and Economics Faculty of the Kyiv Institute of National Economy. In August 1977, he started working as an economist, and from January 1979, he served as a senior inspector for the implementation of advanced practices. In September 1979, he became a senior economist in the Department of State Revenues, and from January 1982, he held the position of a senior economist. In August 1982, he became the head of the Agriculture Financing Department in the Financial Department of the Executive Committee of the Kyiv Regional Council of People's Deputies. In November 1985, he was appointed as the Deputy Head of the Department and head of the budget department of the finance department of the Executive Committee of the Kyiv Regional Council of People's Deputies.

In February 1990, Hermanchuk became the head of the Consolidated Department of Finance and Monetary Affairs of the Ministry of Finance of the Ukrainian SSR. In July 1991, he was appointed as the head of the Department of Monetary Affairs and Securities, and in February 1992, he became the Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine. From July 1993 to June 1996, he served as the First Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine. From July 1994 to June 1996, he held the position of Minister of Finance of Ukraine, and from November 1997 to July 2001, he was the First Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

From June 1996 to January 1997, Hermanchuk worked as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine. From July 2001 to February 2005, he served as the Chairman of the Main Control and Revision Administration of Ukraine. In 2006, he became an advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine based on public principles. Since 2010, he has been serving as an advisor to the President of Ukraine based on public principles.

Petro Hermanchuk was awarded the title of Distinguished Economist of Ukraine in August 1999. He also received the "State Service of Ukraine for Diligent Work" award in 2000, the Order "For Merit" of the II degree in June 2008, and the Order "For Merit" of the I degree in August 2011. He was honored with the International Order of St. Stanislaus of the III degree.
