Early Life
Petro Kryvoruchko was born on June 5, 1920, in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. He attended School No. 9 and frequented the sculpture studio at the city's Pioneer Palace.
Education and Military Service
In 1936, Kryvoruchko enrolled in the sculpture department of the Odessa Art College, graduating in 1940. He joined the Red Army the same year and served on the Leningrad Front from 1941 to 1945.
Wartime and Family Tragedy
After the liberation of Berdychiv in 1944, Kryvoruchko was granted leave. Upon his return home, he discovered the tragic loss of his family. Moved by this event, he created the painting "Death and Life" (1944) as a poignant tribute.
Post-War Artistic Career
From 1945, Kryvoruchko resided in Leningrad and studied at the Academy of Arts, graduating in 1951. He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1952.
Solo Exhibitions
In 1982, Kryvoruchko held a solo exhibition in Leningrad. In 1986, the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists organized an exhibition of his sculptures, drawings, and paintings in Berdychiv.
Sudden Demise and Legacy
Kryvoruchko passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 1987, during his solo exhibition in the creative studio of the Progress Factory's Culture Palace in Berdychiv. He was laid to rest in Berdychiv's New City Cemetery.
In 1992, a black granite grave marker with a granite pedestal was erected on his grave, featuring a sculpted portrait and a commemorative inscription.
