Pia Viitanen: A Finnish Politician
Pia Viitanen is a Finnish politician who has served as a member of Parliament (MP) for the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) since 1995. She has held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Housing and Communications (2013-2014) and Minister of Culture and Housing (2014-2015).
Early Life and Career
Viitanen was born on April 7, 1967, in the city of Tampere in central Finland. She began her political career as a local councilor in Tampere in the early 1990s. In 1995, she was elected as an MP for the SDP.
Ministerial Appointments
In 2013, Viitanen was appointed Minister of Housing and Communications in the government of Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen. Following a cabinet reshuffle in May 2014, she took on the additional portfolio of Minister of Culture, becoming Minister of Culture and Housing.
Responsibilities as Minister
