Solo Project of Ukrainian Musician Dmytro Shurov: Pianoбой
Dmytro Shurov, a Ukrainian musician known for his contributions to bands like "Okean Elzy," "Esthetic Education," and Zemfira, established the solo project Pianoboy in 2009.
Collaboration with Olga Shurova
Dmytro's sister, Olga Shurova, a graduate of the Kyiv National Linguistic University, joined the project. Together, they worked on developing Pianoboy's unique sound.
Debut and Rise to Prominence
Pianoboy's first performance took place at the Moloko Music Fest in September 2009. Olga Shurova provided backing vocals, while other members included Lidia Tutuova, Ilia Galushko, and Andrei Nadolsky. The band quickly gained recognition with performances at fashion shows and the Harper's Bazaar anniversary celebration. Their debut single, "Smyisla.net," was released in November 2009, followed by their first full-scale concert and the release of the music video for the song.
Debut Album and Collaborations
In 2010, Pianoboy began recording their debut album and embarked on a club tour across Ukraine. The band expanded to include Alexander Druganov Jr. In 2011, they collaborated with the group "Bumboks" on the song "Etazhi," and began working with the music company "Muzika dlia Mass" and producer Alexei Sogomonov. Several music videos were released for songs from their debut album, "Prostyie Veshchi," which was released in May 2012.
Recognition and Success
Pianoboy's song "Vedma" won them the "Discovery of the Year" award at the "Chartova Dyuzhina" music awards in 2012. The band continued to release music, including the album "Ne Prekrashchai Mechtay" in 2013 and the music video for "Rodina" in 2014. Despite a planned concert in Moscow in 2014, the Russian government banned the event.
