Early Life and Education
Pierre Andurand was born in Aix en Provence, France in February 1977. At the age of eight, his family moved to Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean, where he spent six years before returning to Aix en Provence.
At the age of 17, Andurand moved to Toulouse to study at the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), where he earned a Master's degree in applied mathematics. He then pursued a Master's degree in international finance at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris.
Career in Finance
Andurand's early professional life was centered on trading. After graduating, he joined Goldman Sachs in Singapore as an oil trader in the commodities division. He subsequently moved to Bank of America as Head of Oil Trading in their Singapore office.
Vitol and BlueGold
In 2004, Andurand joined Vitol, a Swiss-Dutch oil and energy trading company, as a senior crude trader in Singapore. During his tenure, he allegedly earned a $20 million bonus after executing a particularly successful deal.
In 2007, Andurand co-founded BlueGold Capital Management, a hedge fund investment group, where he served as a major shareholder and portfolio manager. The BlueGold Global Fund was launched in February 2008 with $300 million in assets under management.
Andurand Capital
In February 2013, Andurand launched Andurand Capital, a new hedge fund. As of September 2016, the fund had $1.2 billion in assets under management. The Andurand Commodities Fund within Andurand Capital was named one of the top-performing commodity-focused hedge funds in 2013 with a 25% return.
Glory World Series
Andurand developed a passion for kickboxing as a way to stay fit while trading oil. He founded Glory World Series in 2012 after making an unsuccessful bid to acquire K-1, a leading kickboxing promotion company. In September 2016, Glory Sports International announced a strategic investment from Yao Capital, founded by Chinese basketball star Yao Ming.
Personal Life
Andurand married Russian model Yevgenia Slyusarenko in 2011. In May 2018, he attended the Cannes Film Festival with Russian actress and model Victoria Bonya, sparking rumors of a relationship. However, the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
