Pietro Amato is an Italian-Canadian jazz and rock musician who has made a name for himself as one of the few horn players specializing in non-classical genres. A native of Montreal, Amato's versatility extends from jazz and jazz-fusion to art-rock and even indie-rock.
Musical Collaborations and Touring
Amato is a regular member of several musical ensembles, including Torngat, Bell Orchestre, and The Luyas. He also makes occasional appearances with the renowned rock band Arcade Fire. Together, these groups have toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Jazz Accolades
In 2006, Amato's ensemble Bell Orchestre performed at the prestigious Montreal International Jazz Festival. In 2007, Bell Orchestre, featuring Amato, received a Juno Award nomination from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for their debut album, "Recording a Tape in the Colour of the Light."
