Early Life and Education
Polina Lobachevskaya was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1929. Her parents were Rita Pavlova Lobachevskaya and Ivan Yakovlevich Lobachevsky. She completed her education at the State Theater School named after Shchepkin and the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography.
Career in Film Education and Performance
From 1953 to 1984, Lobachevskaya pursued her postgraduate studies and subsequently taught at the Directing and Acting Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. She collaborated with renowned Russian filmmakers such as Olga Pyzhova, Boris Babochkin, Mikhail Romm, Georgy Daneliya, Alexander Zguridy, and Marlen Khutsiev.
Under her guidance, Lobachevskaya mentored distinguished actors and directors of cinema and theater, including Tamara Semina, Elena Solovey, Dmitry Shcherbakov, Sergei Gurzo, Vadim Rubinчик, Konstantin Khudyakov, and Alexander Sokurov.
Directorial Work
Lobachevskaya directed the play "Miracles in a Suitcase" in collaboration with Grigory Chukhrai and Bella Akhmadulina. She also directed the show "Burda Moden Presents..." at the Column Hall of the House of Unions.
Art Direction and Exhibitions
Since becoming the Art Director of the "Kino" Gallery, Lobachevskaya has contributed to the organization of approximately 20 exhibition projects. She plays an integral role in the gallery's art direction and curatorial endeavors.
Professional Affiliations and Recognition
Lobachevskaya has been a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR since 1963. Her contributions to the film industry and art world have been widely recognized.
