Prescott Bush: Banker, Senator, and Family Patriarch
Prescott Sheldon Bush, born on May 15, 1895, was an American banker and politician who served as a U.S. senator from Connecticut from 1952 to 1963. He was the father of the 41st president of the United States, George H. W. Bush, and the grandfather of the 43rd president, George W. Bush.
Early Life and Education
Prescott Bush was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Samuel Bush, an industrialist, and Flora Bush. He received his education at Yale University, where he joined the secret society Skull and Bones.

During World War I, Bush served in France as part of the American Expeditionary Corps. After the war, he returned to the United States and worked for a produce company before becoming a vice president in his father-in-law's company.
Political Career
Bush entered politics in Connecticut and became a typical New England Republican known for his conservative views. In 1952, he was elected to the Senate from Connecticut, where he served as a strong supporter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Skull and Bones Connection
In 1918, as a member of Yale's Skull and Bones society, Bush and two other students allegedly exhumed the skull of Apache chief Geronimo from a federal cemetery in Oklahoma and presented it as a gift to the fraternity. The skull is believed to be kept in a special location on Yale's campus and used in Bones rituals. Rumors also persist that the Skull and Bones tomb contains the skull of Che Guevara.
