Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark: A Greek Royal
Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark was born on October 1, 1969, in Rome, Italy. He is the second son and third child of former King Constantine II of Greece and Anne-Marie of Denmark, the younger daughter of King Frederick IX of Denmark. Due to the military coup that abolished the Greek monarchy in 1973, Nikolaos and his siblings were raised in exile.
Education and Career
Nikolaos attended the Hellenic College of London, a bilingual school founded by his parents. He graduated from Brown University in 1993 with a degree in international relations. After working for NatWest Markets in London, Nikolaos joined his father's private office in 1998. He is also actively involved in the Anna-Maria Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing aid to victims of natural disasters in Greece.
Royal Connections
As a member of the Greek royal family, Nikolaos has strong ties to other European monarchies. He is a cousin of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, Prince Joachim of Denmark, and Princess Märtha Louise of Norway. He was present at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where his cousin Crown Prince Frederik met his future wife, Mary Donaldson.
Marriage and Family
Nikolaos married Tatiana Blatnik, who was later bestowed the title of Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark, on August 25, 2010, on the Greek island of Spetses. Tatiana is of Slovenian and German descent and has a brother named Boris. The couple currently resides in London and has no children.
