Early Life and Career
Quincy Osei-Abeyie was born on April 15, 1986, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Ghanaian parents. He began his football journey at the age of six, joining the youth academy of Ajax Amsterdam. After nine years with the club, Quincy was expelled at the age of 16 due to disciplinary issues.
Arsenal
Following his departure from Ajax, Quincy was invited to trial at Arsenal by academy manager Liam Brady. He impressed and signed a professional contract with the club in September 2002. Quincy made his senior debut for Arsenal in the League Cup in October 2003. Despite being a regular feature in the squad, he struggled to break into the starting lineup.
Spartak Moscow
In January 2006, Quincy joined Spartak Moscow on a three-year contract. He immediately became a key player for the Russian club, adding speed and aggression to their attacking line. Quincy helped Spartak secure two Russian Premier League silver medals in 2006 and 2009.
Loan Spells
During his time at Spartak Moscow, Quincy had several loan spells at various clubs. He spent a year in Spain with Celta Vigo, a year in England with Birmingham City, and a short stint at Cardiff City.
Departure from Russia
In April 2010, Quincy left Spartak Moscow for Qatari club Al-Sadd. However, after only a few months in Doha, he moved on loan to Spanish side Malaga in August 2010.
International Career
In 2005, Quincy represented the Netherlands at the FIFA World Youth Championship. Despite their elimination in the quarterfinals, his performances drew praise from the press and he was ranked second-best player of the tournament behind Lionel Messi. In 2006, Quincy accepted an invitation to play for Ghana's senior national team.
