Early Life and Career

Rachel Gibson was born in the town of Boise, Idaho, which is known for having the largest Basque diaspora outside of Spain. Growing up in a culturally diverse community may have played a role in shaping Gibson's unique literary style. Her father worked for a telephone company, while her mother took on the traditional role of a homemaker. It was her parents who first recognized Gibson's talent for storytelling. When Gibson was 16 years old, she had a minor accident with her car. With the help of a friend, she managed to fix the car's bumper and glass, and then concocted a story about someone hitting her car and fleeing the scene. Her parents believed her, and she has been successfully crafting stories ever since.

After finishing high school, Gibson quickly transitioned into married life and became a mother of three children by the age of 25. It seemed she was following in her mother's footsteps, but everything changed when their television broke down. Gibson picked up a random book, Shirley Busbee's "Spanish Rose," and unexpectedly found herself drawn to romance novels. After six years of avid reading, she decided to try her hand at writing in the genre. In January 1998, Gibson's debut novel, "Simply Irresistible," was published. The story, which was not particularly realistic but entertaining, followed a girl who almost married an older millionaire but fell in love with a fun-loving hockey player instead. The novel was well-received by both critics and readers and quickly became a bestseller. This marked the beginning of Gibson's "Chinooks Hockey Team" series, which currently consists of six books.

Later Works and Recognition

Currently, Rachel Gibson has authored over 20 novels. In 2002, she received the prestigious RITA award for her fourth novel, "True Confessions," a heartwarming and humorous tale about the relationship between a sensationalist reporter and a small-town sheriff. In 2009, Gibson was once again honored with the RITA award for her second book in the highly popular "Sex, Lies, and Online Dating" series, titled "Not Another Bad Date." Another notable work by Gibson is "Valentine's Day Is Killing Me," the third book in the "Chinooks Hockey Team" series, which combines erotic elements with humor and won the Borders Books award for Best Romantic Comedy.

Gibson's most recent novels, "I'm Worried About You" and "Running to You," were released in the fall of 2013. However, less than half of her works have been translated into Russian by the publishing houses "AST" and "Panorama." It is worth noting that the series titles may differ slightly in "Panorama," and some books were attributed to Nicole Roberts as the author. Most of Gibson's books can be found in online libraries, with her novel "Mad About You" receiving the highest ratings.

Despite her success, Rachel Gibson continues to reside in her hometown. In her free time, she enjoys going on boat rides with her husband, indulging in shoe shopping, and doting on her pampered pet cat.
