Biography of Radmila Schegoleva

Radmila Schegoleva is a Ukrainian and Russian actress of theater and film and a television presenter. She was born on March 23, 1974, in Kiev. Schegoleva discovered her passion for acting at a young age, coming from a family with a strong background in the performing arts. Her grandfather was a playwright and deputy director of the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater, her grandmother was a talented singer who performed on the same stage, and her father worked as a director in a musical theater and taught at the conservatory. Schegoleva also had a strong interest in medicine, influenced by her grandmother's passion for alternative medicine. However, her love for acting ultimately prevailed.

Early Career

After graduating from the Kiev State Institute of Theatrical Arts named after I. Karpenco-Karogo, under the guidance of Yuri Mazhuka, Schegoleva began her career in the Lesya Ukrainka Theater and the Actors House. She dreamt of participating in serious plays or vibrant musicals, but unexpectedly found herself in Andrey Danilko's theater, in the television series "SV-Show," playing the role of the talkative Verka Serduchka and the silly mute Gelya. Despite the unconventional role, Schegoleva enjoyed her work, with more than 20 performances in a month.

Transition to Television and Film

However, being typecast as the silly Gelya limited Schegoleva's opportunities, and she became disillusioned with the modern film industry. She decided to take a break and focus on her work with Danilko and the "SV-Show." During this time, she co-hosted the television program "Women's Club" alongside Ruslana Pysanka. This opportunity helped her regain her emotional and physical strength.

As fate would have it, Schegoleva's talent caught the attention of film directors. She made her debut in the series "Island of Love," despite her initial negative perception of television series. Afterward, she received an enticing offer to star in the film "Roksolana," where she played the role of the fiery beauty Clara. She also had the opportunity to work on a Yugoslavian project, "The White Suit," where she acted alongside the renowned actor Lazar Ristovski. While she was not in high demand among filmmakers, Schegoleva persevered, attending auditions and receiving both rejections and offers along the way.

Breakthrough and Personal Struggles

In 2008, Schegoleva's career took a turn for the better. She appeared in two films, "Hand for Happiness," a joint Ukrainian-Russian project, and "Surprise Me," where she played the central role of the joyful Zhenya. However, during this time, she faced serious health issues, including a misdiagnosis and physical and mental strain. She was bedridden for three months and prepared for a bleak future. However, with the love, support, and talent she possessed, Schegoleva miraculously recovered and decided to reevaluate her priorities.

Current Endeavors

Schegoleva shifted her focus to business and co-founded a talent agency with friends, representing builders, producers of quality vodka, and programmers. She also purchased an apartment near Kiev, in Pushcha-Vodytsia, where she enjoys spending time in nature with her Labrador named Marfa. Schegoleva's perspective on life has changed, placing less importance on material possessions and money. She no longer owns a car, as her vision is not the best, and prefers to listen to music loudly and wander around, embracing the philosophy of not falling prey to old age without wisdom.

Throughout her career, Schegoleva has appeared in various films and series, including "Island of Love" (1995-1996), "Roksolana" (1997), "The White Suit" (1999), "Black Council" (2000), "New Year Killer" (2005), "Hand for Happiness" (2008), and "Surprise Me" (2008).
