Early Life and Career

Marcio Rafael Ferreira de Souza, better known as Rafinha, was born on September 7, 1985, in Londrina, Brazil. From a tender age, his passion for soccer led him to train with the local club Grêmio Londrinense. By 2001-2002, Rafinha had joined Londrina Esporte's youth team.

Professional Career in Brazil

Rafinha's professional career took off in 2002 with the Coritiba club. In 2004, he made his debut in the Brazilian Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, showcasing his impressive skills. His performances earned him a regular spot in the starting lineup.

Move to Europe and Schalke 04

In 2005, Rafinha made the decision to move to Europe. He signed a five-million-euro contract with FC Schalke 04, a German Bundesliga club. Rafinha made his Bundesliga debut in August 2005 against Borussia Dortmund, ending in a 1-1 draw.
