Rakul Preet Singh: Indian Actress and Model

Early Life and Education

Rakul Preet Singh, an alluring brunette with a captivating smile and mesmerizing hazel eyes, was born on October 10, 1990, in New Delhi, India, to an army officer father. Along with her brother Aman, she attended the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, where her natural aptitude for mathematics became evident. She excelled in solving differential equations while finding theoretical concepts tedious. After graduating, Rakul pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College, graduating with honors.

Modeling Career

Beyond academics, Rakul's tall and slender physique led her to pursue modeling part-time. She participated in professional photoshoots, which eventually served as a gateway to the national beauty pageant Miss India 2011. While she did not secure the crown, she won the Miss India People's Choice award and special accolades for her talent, beautiful eyes, and smile.

Acting Debut and Breakthrough

Despite her initial doubts, Rakul's confidence in her acting abilities grew with experience. Her debut film, "Gilli," released in 2009, was initially a financial motive, but it ignited a passion for the film industry. She immersed herself in the craft, welcoming criticism and intuitively grasping the emotional depth of her characters. Throughout her career, Rakul has enjoyed a steady stream of projects, working up to 10 months of the year. In 2013, she earned a Filmfare Awards South Best Actress nomination for her lead role in the comedy-adventure "Venkatadri Express."

Telugu and Bollywood Films

A majority of Rakul's early films were in Telugu, limiting her exposure beyond South India. To overcome this, she expanded her repertoire to include Hindi roles from 2018 onwards, resulting in a surge in popularity. Balancing between Hyderabad (Tollywood) and Mumbai (Bollywood) proved challenging, but Rakul ultimately chose Bollywood as her primary base. Notable Hindi films include the romantic comedy "De De Pyaar De," where she played a young love interest to a 50-year-old businessman, and the heartwarming drama "Sardar Ka Grandson," where she brought to life the love interest of Arjun Kapoor's protagonist. Rakul's versatility extends to action ("Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" with Allu Arjun), thriller ("Spider" with Mahesh Babu), and crime thrillers ("Aiyaary" with Sidharth Malhotra).

Personal Life

Rakul aspires to a family life inspired by her parents. Her romantic ideals are described as "old-fashioned," seeking a balance between self-love and selfless devotion to a partner that does not compromise her self-respect. After a hiatus in her personal life for four years, she confirmed her relationship with Jackky Bhagnani, an Indian actor and producer, in 2021.

Current Projects

Rakul's filmography continues to grow steadily. In 2022 alone, she is involved in at least ten projects. Notable upcoming releases include the thriller "Runway 34," based on a real-life incident in aviation, where she essays the lead role.
