Early Life and Amateur Career
Ramil Gadzhiev, a Ukrainian professional boxer in the super middleweight division, was born in Odessa, Ukraine. Raised with a passion for sports, he began training in boxing at the age of 6, inspired by his father's dream of seeing him become a world champion.
In 2011, Gadzhiev won his first major title as a silver medalist at the European Cadet Championship in Grozny, Russia. He then went on to claim the gold medal at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Kyiv, knocking out his opponent in the first round.
Youth Olympic Games and Professional Debut
Gadzhiev's crowning achievement in his amateur career came at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, where he became the champion in the 75 kg weight class. His victory over reigning world champion Dmitry Nesterov of Russia showcased his determination and potential.
In 2015, Gadzhiev made his professional debut at just 17 years old, signing a contract with the American promotional company Fight Promotions. He made an impressive start with a second-round technical knockout victory over Pavlo Sharun.
Professional Successes
Gadzhiev continued his success in the professional ranks, capturing the WBC Youth World Championship title in 2017 with a victory over Aro Schwartz. In 2018, he became the WBC International Silver Champion after defeating Bruno "Tiburón" Sandoval.
He successfully defended his WBC Youth World Championship title in 2019, knocking out Mateo Damian in the second round.
Show Usyk-17 Promotions
In 2021, Gadzhiev participated in the "Show Usyk-17 Promotions," organized by former world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. He emerged victorious in this eight-round main event against Belarusian opponent Ivan Murashkin.
Personal Life
Ramil Gadzhiev's father, Gazanfar Mamadsafa ogly Gadzhiev, was born in Azerbaijan. Gadzhiev's family background and close ties to both Ukraine and his father's homeland have shaped his upbringing.
