Early Life and Career

Raul Ruidíaz began his football journey at the age of eight by joining the youth academy of Club Universitario de Deportes. In 2008, he made his senior debut for Universitario's reserve team, América Cochahuayco, in Peru's second division.

Club Career

Universitario de Deportes

On October 4, 2009, Ruidíaz made his first-team debut for Universitario in a league match against Total Chalaco. His professional goal came three matches later, when he scored against Melgar goalkeeper Jorge Rodríguez. In 2010, Universitario won the Peruvian championship, and Ruidíaz played his first Copa Libertadores match against Argentine club Lanús.

Universidad de Chile

In early 2012, Ruidíaz moved to Chilean club Universidad de Chile. He made his debut in a match against Cobreloa, scoring a goal and earning a penalty that was converted by Pedro Morales. He continued to impress, scoring in three consecutive matches.

Coritiba

In August 2012, Ruidíaz transferred to Brazilian club Coritiba. His debut came against Flamengo in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. He played seven more matches for Coritiba before the season ended.

Return to Universitario

Ruidíaz returned to Universitario in 2013 on loan and played a key role in the club's championship victory. He also became the Peruvian championship's top scorer.

International Career

Ruidíaz made his debut for the Peruvian national team in 2011 and was part of the squad that won bronze at the Copa América. He scored his first international goal in 2016 against Venezuela. In the 2016 Copa América, he famously scored the winning goal against Brazil with his hand, helping Peru to upset the tournament favorites.
