Birth and Early Education

Razmik Davoyan, an influential Armenian public figure, was born on July 3, 1940, in the village of Mets Parni, Spitak district. He received his primary education there before relocating to Leninakan (now Gyumri) with his family in 1949. In Leninakan, he completed high school and attended the local medical school.

Higher Education and Journalism

After working in Leninakan for a year, Davoyan moved to Yerevan in 1959. He enrolled in the Faculty of History and Philology at Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical Institute, graduating in 1964. Concurrently with his studies, he worked as head of the anthropology and medicine department for the monthly "Gitutyun ev Teknika" ("Science and Technology") and as a proofreader for the newspaper "Grakan Tert" ("Literary Newspaper"). From 1965, he became head of the poetry and prose department at "Grakan Tert."

Public Service

In 1970, Davoyan joined the press department of the Committee for Cultural Relations with the Diaspora. From 1975 to 1990, he served as responsible secretary of the Committee for State Prizes of Armenia. In 1989, he held the position of first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of Armenia's Commission on the Disaster Zone and co-chairman of the public organization "Veratznund" ("Revival").

Leadership Roles

In 1991, Davoyan became chairman of the board of "Amagahin" Armenia. From 1994 to 1996, he chaired the board of the Writers' Union of Armenia. From 1999 to 2003, he served as advisor to the President of the Republic of Armenia.

Literary Contributions

Davoyan's first poem was published in 1957 in the Leninakan newspaper "Banvor" ("Worker"). His first collection of works was released in 1963.
