Rebecca Pidgeon, a Scottish actress, singer, and musician, was born on October 10, 1965, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, to English parents. Her father was an invited professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1970, the Pidgeon family relocated to Edinburgh, Scotland, where Rebecca grew up, giving her dual citizenship. During her teenage years, she became friends with Shirley Manson, the vocalist of the rock band 'Garbage'.
Education and Career
Rebecca studied at a drama college and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, along with notable individuals such as Clive Owen and Lisa Tarbuck. After achieving several promising acting roles in the United Kingdom, Pidgeon made the decision to move to the United States.
Rebecca was the vocalist for the British folk-pop group 'Ruby Blue' from 1986 to 1990. When she left the band, 'Ruby Blue' signed a contract with a major label and achieved success both commercially and critically. Meanwhile, in 1988, Pidgeon made her debut in the thriller film "The Dawning". She decided to focus on her acting career, becoming a star in plays and films by David Mamet. She first appeared in his thriller "Homicide" and Mamet specifically wrote a role for her in the play "Oleanna". In turn, Pidgeon wrote the music for the film adaptation of the play, in which the role of her character was portrayed by Debra Eisenstadt. Pidgeon also appeared in Mamet's films "The Spanish Prisoner," "State and Main," and "Heist".

Personal Life
Rebecca Pidgeon began dating screenwriter and director David Mamet while performing in his satirical play "Speed-the-Plow" at the National Theatre in London. Despite Mamet being married to actress Lindsay Crouse, their marital ties did not stop him. Eventually, he divorced Crouse and married Pidgeon in 1991, with Rebecca converting to her husband's Jewish faith. Rebecca and David have two children together, Clara and Noah.
