Early Life and Career
Réda Johnson was born in France to an American father of Beninese descent and an Algerian mother. He began his football career in the youth ranks of Gueugnon.
Professional Debut and Amiens
In 2007, Johnson moved to Amiens in Ligue 2. He made his debut as a substitute in the fifth round of the championship against Guingamp on August 24, 2007. Amiens lost the match 1-0. During his first season, Johnson only appeared in 8 matches.
International Debut
In 2008, Johnson caught the attention of Benin national team coach Michel Dussuyer. He received his first call-up to Les Écureuils for a friendly match against Algeria on February 11, 2009. Johnson made his debut for the national team in the match against Algeria, coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute for Oscar Olou. Benin lost the match 2-1.
Club Success with Eastleigh
Johnson made a breakthrough in his career when he joined Eastleigh in 2007. He quickly became a key player for the club, helping them to achieve promotion to the National League in 2014.
