Rina Kumari: An Indian Archery Champion
Rina Kumari is an accomplished Indian archer who has represented her country at the highest levels of the sport.
Olympic Achievements
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Kumari finished 43rd in the qualification round with a score of 620 points. In the first round of the knockout stage, she emerged victorious against Georgian archer Kristina Esebua (qualifying 22nd) with a score of 153-149. Kumari's winning streak continued in the second round when she defeated Bhutanese athlete Tshering Chhoden (134-134, tie-break 7-4). However, her Olympic journey came to an end in the third round, where she faced Yuan Shu Chi of Chinese Taipei and lost with a score of 148-166. Kumari ultimately finished 15th among 64 participants in the individual archery event.
Team Performance
In addition to her individual performance, Kumari also participated in the team competition at the 2004 Olympics. The Indian team, consisting of Kumari, Dola Banerjee, and Reena Kumari, placed eighth overall. Their performance showcased the depth of talent within Indian archery and further cemented Kumari's status as a formidable competitor on the international stage.
