Early Life and Career

Born on July 21, 1999, in Newtownards, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, McClenaghan began gymnastics at the age of six. Trained by former professional gymnast Luke Carson, he quickly excelled in the sport, specializing in the pommel horse event.

Until 2018, McClenaghan represented Rathgael Gym. Since July 2018, he has trained at the National Gymnastics Training Center in Dublin. In 2016, he became the youngest Irish gymnast to win a medal at the British Championships, earning bronze in the pommel horse behind Olympic medalists Louis Smith and Max Whitlock.

International Breakthrough

McClenaghan's international breakthrough came at the 2016 Junior European Championships, where he won silver in the pommel horse. He became the first Irish gymnast to medal at the European Gymnastics Championships.
