Early Career and Success with San Lorenzo

Roberto Alarcón began his football career with San Lorenzo in 1933. In his debut season, he helped the club clinch the Argentine championship title. Three years later, he won the Buenos Aires Municipal Glory Cup and finished second in the league standings. During his six years with San Lorenzo, Alarcón made 128 appearances, scoring 77 goals, including an impressive four-goal performance against Lanús in a 7-0 victory in 1937.

Transfer to Boca Juniors and International Debut

In 1939, Alarcón made the move to Boca Juniors. He debuted on June 11th against River Plate in a 2-0 victory and scored his first goal for the club five days later against Ferrocarril Oeste, completing a hat-trick. In 1940, Alarcón won his second league championship and scored the inaugural goal at La Bombonera, Boca's iconic stadium, in a friendly match against San Lorenzo.

On January 26th, 1941, Alarcón made his debut for the Argentinian national team against Peru. He would go on to compete in the South American Championship that year, but did not play in any matches.

Later Career and International Experience

After his time with Boca Juniors, Alarcón played for Platense, San Lorenzo again, and Gimnasia y Esgrima (La Plata). In 1949, he moved to Italy to join Genoa, where he made 30 appearances and scored 7 goals. He also had a spell with Olympique Marseille in France.

In 1965, Alarcón made a brief return to Argentina to play for Central Córdoba, wrapping up a remarkable career that spanned multiple continents.
