Richard Kinder: Biography of the Enron Owner
Early Life and EducationRichard Kinder, the famous billionaire, entrepreneur, and former owner of Enron, received his education at the University of Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Arts degree. He went on to obtain a Juris Doctor degree. In addition to his university education, Kinder also served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
The Enron Connection
Richard Kinder is closely associated with Enron, a company that was founded in 1931 in Nebraska under the name Northern Natural Gas Company. Initially focused on natural gas extraction, the company underwent a reorganization in 1979 and became the holding company, InterNorth. In 1985, InterNorth acquired Houston Natural Gas and changed its name to Enron. At first, Enron was primarily involved in gas and electricity supply and distribution across the United States.
Enron's Rise and Fall
Over time, Enron became incredibly wealthy and was hailed as the most innovative company in America. However, in 2001, the company filed for bankruptcy. Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, which was once a division of Enron, was founded in 1997 by Richard Kinder and William Morgan. Currently, the organization is engaged in oil and gas production. Despite their meticulous control, the company has experienced over thirty incidents in the United States.
The Philanthropic Efforts of Nancy Kinder
Richard's wife, Nancy Kinder, deserves special attention for her extensive philanthropic activities and the organization of various charitable institutions and events. Both Richard and Nancy serve as trustees for numerous organizations, such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.
