To promote the project, Swanson embarked on an eccentric mission: to dribble a soccer ball for 10,000 miles, from Seattle to Brazil.

Unfortunately, Swanson's journey came to an abrupt end after just two weeks. In Lincoln City, Oregon, he was struck by a car and succumbed to his injuries. Despite the brevity of his time on the journey, Swanson had made an impact on many. Lisa Tarver, a One World Futbol Project executive, stated that Swanson had inspired countless people in that short span. No charges were filed against the driver involved in the accident. The soccer ball that Swanson had been dribbling throughout his journey survived the incident.
