Biography of Dennis Basso - Fashion Designer and Philanthropist

Dennis Basso is one of the top American designers specializing in fur garments. He established his business in 1983, starting with selling fur products from a rented cargo truck. Since then, his business has undergone significant transformations, for the better, of course. Dennis now owns a multinational brand that is synonymous with truly luxurious fur items.

Dennis obtained his higher education from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. In 2002, he was accepted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Five years later, in 2007, Basso showcased his new ready-to-wear clothing line at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Bryant Park, New York.

Basso has created fur garments for a wide range of celebrities, including Ivana Trump, Elizabeth Taylor, Patti La Belle, Joan Rivers, Natalie Cole, Joan Collins, Lorraine Bracco, Liza Minnelli, Star Jones, Diana Ross, Melania Trump, and Janet Jackson. His designs were worn by Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the movie "Chicago," as well as by Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada."

In addition to his fashion business, Dennis Basso is actively involved in philanthropy. He serves on the board of directors for the Children's Hearing Institute and the Boys Towns of Italy Foundation. He supports the American Cancer Society, The G&P Foundation for Cancer Research, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New Yorkers for Children, and the Alzheimer's Association.

With the help of the transnational company QVC, Dennis has secured a significant position in the market for faux fur. Clothing and accessories under his name are accessible in price and pleasing in design. In 2009, Basso was honored with the 'QVC Ambassador' award.
