Early Life and Family

Robert Blake was born on September 18, 1933, in New Jersey as the youngest of three children. His father, an Italian immigrant, arrived in the US in 1907, while his mother was also of Italian-American descent. The family's creative side emerged in 1936 when the siblings formed the performing group known as "The Three Little Blakes."

Move to California and Acting Debut

In 1938, the family relocated to California, where the children's potential was recognized. Robert Blake's acting career began with his debut in "Bridal Suite" (1939). He continued to appear in various films until 1944, using the stage name Bobby Blake from 1942 onwards.

Childhood Struggles and Army Service

Despite his acting success, Blake's childhood was far from ideal. His father's alcoholism and abusive behavior cast a shadow over the family. At the age of 10, Blake found himself without friends and often subject to bullying. He dropped out of school at 14 and left home. The ensuing years were a challenging period for the future actor.

In 1950, Blake was drafted into the army. After his discharge, he pursued acting lessons under a renowned mentor, marking a turning point in both his professional and personal life.

Film and Television Career

Robert Blake enjoyed a prolific acting career throughout the 1980s and 1990s, primarily in television roles. He gained widespread recognition for his starring role in the hit TV series "Baretta."

Marriage, Tragedy, and Legal Battles

In 1999, Blake met Bonnie Lee Bakley, who would profoundly alter his life. They married in 2000, but tragedy struck just one year later when Bakley was shot and killed in her car. Blake was arrested and charged with her murder.

After a highly publicized trial, Blake was acquitted on March 16, 2005.
