Early Life and Education
Abdul Qaiyum Khan was born in 1923 in a small village in the Yusafzai area of British India. He received his bachelor's degree in English literature in 1942 and his master's in English history in 1946.
Public Service Career
Khan joined the Pakistan Administrative Service in 1949. In 1951, he became Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sindh.
Rise in Bureaucracy
Khan's career reached its pinnacle under General Zia-ul-Haq, serving as the Administrator of Martial Law and as the Interior Minister. Later, he became Pakistan's Chief Secretary, the highest rank in the civil service.
Political Analyst
After retiring from government, Khan worked as a political analyst. He authored three books and contributed to the interpretation of Pakistan's political landscape.
