Early Life and Career
Roma Maffia was born on May 31, 1958, in Manhattan, New York City. Despite her Italian-sounding surname, she is not of Italian descent; her ancestry includes West Indian, English, and German roots. Her stepfather gave her the surname "Maffia."
Maffia began her acting career in off-Broadway and community theaters, performing in Shakespeare plays and works by playwright Sam Shepard.
Television and Film Debut
Casting director Jane Jenkins cast Maffia in Ron Howard's film "The Paper." After the comedy-drama premiered in Los Angeles, Maffia's career in Hollywood took off. She soon met producer David E. Kelley, who cast her as Angela, Adam Arkin's secretary, in the television series "Chicago Hope."
Breakthrough Role in "The Disclosure"
