Biography of Roman Cervenka

Roman Cervenka is a professional Czech ice hockey player who was born on December 10, 1985, in Prague, Czech Republic. He began his hockey career as a youth player for the Prague-based team, Slavia.

Early Career

Cervenka made his debut in the main squad of Slavia during the 2003/2004 season. He also played for other Czech teams such as Kometa Brno, Hradec Kralove, Havlickuv Brod, and HC Slovan Usti nad Labem. In total, he played 239 matches in the Czech Extraliga for Slavia, scoring 88 goals and providing 100 assists.

International Success

Cervenka represented the Czech Republic in various international tournaments. He won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championship in 2005 and became a champion at the World Championship in 2010. He also participated in the Olympic Games in 2010 and 2014.

KHL Career

In May 2010, Cervenka signed a two-year contract with the Omsk-based team Avangard in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He played alongside legendary player Jaromir Jagr and was honored with the title of "Best Sniper" in the 2010/2011 regular season, scoring 31 goals. During the 2011/2012 season, he won silver medals in the Russian Championship with Avangard and became the team's top scorer.

NHL Stint and Return to KHL

In May 2012, Cervenka signed a one-year contract with the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League (NHL). However, due to the NHL lockout, he decided to stay in the Czech Republic and his rights were transferred to Lev Prague in the KHL. After his NHL stint, Cervenka returned to the KHL and played for Lev Prague before being traded to SKA St. Petersburg in May 2013. He played for SKA until May 2015.
