Roman Kontsedalov: A Russian Midfield Star

Early Career

Roman Kontsedalov, a Russian midfielder, began his football journey in Valuyki before joining the renowned Volgograd's "Olimpiya" (coached by Leonid Slutsky). At the tender age of 17, he was recruited by "Titan" Reutov, but never debuted officially for the club.

Rise to Prominence

In 2004, Kontsedalov joined "Lokomotiv," where he initially flourished in 2005-2006 while on loan to "Spartak" Nalchik. His pivotal free-kick goal against "Chkalovets" Novosibirsk secured Nalchik's promotion to the Premier League. Kontsedalov's debut in the Russian Premier League occurred on March 18, 2006, against "CSKA" Moscow. On July 6, 2006, he netted his maiden Premier League goal for "Spartak."

Return to "Lokomotiv" and Loan Stints

Returned to "Lokomotiv" in 2007, Kontsedalov made 12 league appearances and three cup appearances, helping the club lift the Russian Cup. Subsequently, he embarked on loan spells at "Tom" in 2008 and returned to "Spartak-Nalchik" in 2009.

Landmark Achievement and Player of the Year Honors

In 2010, Nalchik acquired Kontsedalov's playing rights, and on May 2, 2011, he marked his 100th appearance for the club. In 2011, he was crowned Player of the Year by the media of Kabardino-Balkaria. Journalists recognized his spectacular free-kick goal against "Zenit" St. Petersburg as "Spartak's" best in 2011.

Later Career

Kontsedalov's career continued with "Mordovia" Saransk in 2012, followed by a brief return to "Spartak" Nalchik in 2013. In 2013, he joined "Volga" Nizhny Novgorod before moving to "Anzhi" Makhachkala in 2015. In subsequent years, he played for "Energomash," "Kuban," and "Rotor-Volgograd."

Current Involvement

As of 2021, Kontsedalov represents SSh-75, a participant in the Moscow Championship's League "A" within the III Division.

International Career

Kontsedalov has represented Russia at youth and under-21 levels, earning nine caps and scoring one goal. In 2011, he was called up to the Russia-2 team, debuting on August 10 in a victory against Russia's youth team.
