Roman Kukhar: A Ukrainian Sculptor with an Enigmatic Vision

- Wife: Olga Ivanovna Petrova
- Children: Ulyana Romanovna Petrova, Oksana Romanovna Kukhar, Anna Romanovna Kukhar
Artistic Style
Kukhar's art is characterized by its sincerity, enthusiasm, and irony. His irony is wise, unexpected, subtly melancholic, and lyrical. He approaches his creations with a playful spirit, avoiding deliberate and cold artificiality. Kukhar's ability to surprise stems from his own sense of wonder, a trait he retained throughout his life.
Artistic Impact
Oksana Lamonova described Kukhar's art as "highly cohesive, highly original, and to some extent highly self-sufficient." It does not require rational interpretation but instead impacts the viewer emotionally and intuitively. His works, whether bronze reliefs, graphic prints, or paintings, are both concise and profound.
Exhibitions
Kukhar was a member of the Union of Artists from 1989 and participated in exhibitions since 1986. His posthumous exhibition was held in 2003 at the Marat Gelman Gallery.
