Early Career and Training

Tarangul's journey in judo began in 1995 when she started training at the 'Blau-Weiß Frankfurt (Oder)' club under coach Gerald Haack. She now trains under the guidance of Benny Biemüller.

International Success

2007 marked Tarangul's debut at the World Judo Championships in Rio de Janeiro, although she did not achieve significant success. However, the following year, she earned a silver medal at the European Judo Championships in Lisbon, overcoming formidable domestic competition in Germany, a country renowned for its judo prowess. This result qualified her for the Beijing Olympics, where she placed ninth.

In Beijing, Tarangul opened her campaign with victory over Uzbekistani Sinura Djuraeva but fell to Japanese Misato Nakamura in the Round of 16. She subsequently lost to Belgian Ilse Heylen in the repechage round. At the 2012 London Olympics, Tarangul defeated Russian Natalia Kuziutina before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Italian Rosalba Forciniti, who later claimed the bronze medal.

World and European Championships

Tarangul's international success continued to grow, earning a bronze medal in her weight category at the 2009 World Judo Championships in Rotterdam. In April 2012, she secured bronze at the European Championships in Chelyabinsk, qualifying her for the London Olympics.

Olympic and Playboy Controversy

Notably, Tarangul appeared in a special Olympic edition of 'Playboy' in 2008 alongside hockey player Katharina Scholz, sailor Petra Niemann, and canoeist Nicole Reinhardt.
