Early Life and Education

Ron DeSantis was born and raised in Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 2001 and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 2005. During his time at Yale, DeSantis was the captain of the varsity baseball team.

Military Service

After graduating from law school, DeSantis served as a lawyer in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Iraq, where he advised military commanders on legal matters.

Political Career

U.S. House of Representatives (2013-2018)

DeSantis began his political career in 2013 when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He represented Florida's 6th Congressional District for five terms. During his time in Congress, DeSantis was a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
