Early Career

Lester's acting career began with stand-up comedy sketches. As he admitted himself, during his childhood, he had no choice but to be funny. Being overweight, he was constantly the target of ridicule and teasing from his classmates, and clowning became his only defense mechanism. Furthermore, Lester's childhood was marked by the tragic death of his beloved sister, which caused him immense suffering and led him to attempt suicide.

Breakthrough Role

Lester made his first appearance on the screen in 1997 in the comedy film "Good Burger" directed by Brian Robbins. In 1999, he starred in the youth sports comedy "Varsity Blues," also directed by Brian Robbins. This role became his most recognized and acclaimed work. His character, Billy Bob, who was advised by doctors not to play football while the team coach insisted otherwise, portrayed a blend of comedy and drama. In fact, the actor's own health was in great danger at the time, despite his roles being comedic and his unique appearance being sought after by producers.

Later Career

In Joel Gallen's comedy film "Not Another Teen Movie," released in 2001, Lester appeared in his new weight. He also landed one of the main roles in "The Greenskeeper" in 2002. Almost all of Lester's roles were comedic, often portraying the typical overweight character present in teen comedies. However, after his surgery, some contracts had to be reconsidered. On television, he participated in the popular show "Freaks and Geeks" and also starred in the series "Popular." Notably, Lester received two nominations for the Teen Choice Awards for his work on "Freaks and Geeks." Additionally, he made appearances in TV shows such as "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "CSI: NY."
