Ross Miner is an American athlete and figure skater. Born in Vermont, Ross Miner has made a name for himself at almost every level of competitive figure skating, as a novice, junior, and professional skater. Throughout his career, Miner consistently demonstrated a high level of performance and won several medals in major tournaments and competitions.

Early Life and Career

Ross Miner was born in Burlington, Vermont. Figure skating was not his only favorite sport - he also actively played hockey until the age of 12. At the age of 3, Miner first stepped onto the ice, and at 12, he began training at the Boston Skating Club. Despite his potential, Miner had to learn many things from scratch in this club, especially improving his jumping technique. However, even with these challenges, his talent was evident, which led Mark Mitchell and Peter Johansson to become his coaches.

Early Competitive Years

In the 2004-2005 season, Miner competed at the intermediate level, not yet reaching the status of a novice. Nonetheless, he achieved good results, winning a bronze medal at the regional championship and qualifying for the U.S. Junior Championships, where he finished 8th. The following season, Miner continued to compete at the junior level, winning a silver medal at the regional championship and a gold medal at the national championship.

In the 2006-2007 season, Miner competed as a novice. He won the regional championship and finished 5th at the sectional championship, just one position shy of qualifying for the national championship. However, in the 2007-2008 season, he won the sectional championship, earned a silver medal at the national championship, and even won a silver medal at the Gardena Spring Trophy.

Junior Career and International Success

The 2008-2009 season marked Miner's transition to the junior level. He won the sectional championship and qualified for the national tournament. At the national level, Miner performed well in both the short program and the free skate, securing a gold medal in the overall standings. He then competed at the Junior World Championships, where he finished in 10th place. In the Junior Grand Prix Final 2009-2010, Miner won a bronze medal.

In the following years, Miner faced some setbacks due to injuries. However, he managed to secure notable placements, such as 9th place at the NHK Trophy and 7th place at the Cup of China in the 2010-2011 season. At the U.S. Championships in 2011, Miner competed in the senior division for the first time and won a bronze medal. He also represented the United States at the World Championships, where he finished 11th.

In 2012, Miner achieved 5th place at Skate Canada International and won a bronze medal at the NHK Trophy after successfully landing his first quadruple jump. At the U.S. Championships in 2013, he placed 2nd, narrowly missing out on the gold medal. Unfortunately, Miner had to withdraw from other events that season due to injury. He sustained another leg injury that forced him to miss competitions.
