Early Life and EducationEdward Tachmuradyan was born on May 24, 1947, in Riga, Latvia. At the age of 18, he emerged victorious at the Second Transcaucasian Competition for Musicians in Tbilisi. He then pursued his musical education at the Moscow State Conservatory under renowned pedagogue Yuri Yankelevich, followed by an apprenticeship with Leonid Kogan.
Accolades and Competitions
Tachmuradyan's exceptional talent was recognized early on. In 1972, he triumphed at the prestigious Montreal International Competition. Two years later, he shared second place at the Fifth International Tchaikovsky Competition with Eugene Fodor and Rusudan Gvasalia, as no first prize was awarded that year.
Teaching and Orchestra Leadership
From 1971, Tachmuradyan dedicated himself to teaching at the Yerevan State Conservatory. In 1982, he assumed the role of conductor for the State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia.
Later Career and Relocation
In 1996, Tachmuradyan relocated to Russia and became the first violinist of the renowned Borodin Quartet. This prestigious ensemble has earned international acclaim for its exceptional performances and recordings.
