Rubik Akhverdyan (born 1950) is an Armenian singer, guitarist, songwriter, and social activist.
Early Life and Education
Born into a family of intellectuals, Akhverdyan's early life was marked by rebellions and school changes. Despite his struggles, he graduated from the Yerevan Theatrical Institute's directing department in 1975.
Artistic Breakthroughs
Akhverdyan's career took off after his graduation. He directed several successful television productions, including "The Mill of Satan." He became one of the pioneers of the author's song genre in Armenia, releasing his first album, "Songs of Love and Hope," in Paris in 1985.
Musical Achievements
Despite initially being banned in Soviet Armenia, Akhverdyan's songs became immensely popular. His iconic compositions include "Yerevani gishernerum," "Mer siro ashune," and "Pokrik navak." He also wrote several musicals and children's songs.
