Early Life and Youth Career

Ruben de la Red Gutierrez was born on June 5, 1985, in Móstoles, Spain. From an early age, he exhibited a passion for football and joined Real Madrid's youth academy at the age of 14. Despite some setbacks, he eventually regained his position on the team.

Debut with Real Madrid

De la Red made his debut for Real Madrid's first team on November 10, 2004, in the Copa del Rey against CD Tenerife. He made his La Liga debut against Athletic Bilbao on September 22, 2005. Under new coach Fabio Capello, he became a regular starter and scored his first goal for the club on November 8, 2006, against Écija Balompié.

Getafe and Return to Madrid

In 2007, de la Red joined Getafe CF for two seasons before returning to Real Madrid. He made 31 appearances for Getafe, scoring two goals. Upon his return to Madrid, he scored a crucial goal against Valencia CF in 2008 that propelled the team up the league table.

Cardiac Arrest and Rehabilitation

On October 30, 2008, de la Red collapsed during a match against Real Unión and was hospitalized after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was ruled out for the remainder of the season and underwent extensive rehabilitation over the following years.

Contract Termination Attempt and Return

In January 2010, Real Madrid attempted to terminate de la Red's contract, but the move was unsuccessful. He resumed training with the team and was offered a position within Real Madrid's organization.

Retirement and Coaching Career

On November 3, 2010, de la Red officially retired as a player and transitioned to a coaching role within Real Madrid's youth academy. He continues to contribute to the football world through his work as a coach and mentor.
