Biography of Giovane Elber

Giovane Elber is a former Brazilian football player and striker. He is the second highest scorer in the German Bundesliga among foreign players, with 133 goals. Elber was known for being the first player in the Bundesliga to wear white boots.

Early Life and Career

Elber was born into a poor, large family and was raised with strict discipline, which helped shape his football career. After school, Elber would play football until late at night. He was known for his mischievous behavior as a child, often getting into trouble with the police. Elber started his football career at the club Londrina, where he played from the age of 15.

Professional Career

In 1990, Elber was bought by Italian club Milan, but he hardly played for them and only appeared in one match in the Italian Cup. He then moved to Swiss club Grasshoppers in 1991, where he spent three seasons. In his last season, he helped the club win the Swiss Cup and became the top scorer and best foreign player in the Swiss league.

In 1994, Elber joined German club Stuttgart for a transfer fee of 1.6 million euros. He formed a famous attacking trio with Fredi Bobic and Krasimir Balakov, known as the "Magic Triangle." With Stuttgart, Elber won the German Cup in 1997, scoring both goals in the final against Energie Cottbus.

In 1997, Elber transferred to Bayern Munich for a fee of 13.5 million German marks (6.5 million euros). He joined Bayern Munich to replace Jurgen Klinsmann. Elber scored his first goal for Bayern Munich in a friendly match against Magdeburg.
