Biography of Rudolf von Alt

Rudolf von Alt, an Austrian artist, found inspiration for his paintings during his hiking trips across Europe. With his innate talent, he captured the magnificent images of European nature on canvas. Rudolf Alt was the son of the famous artist, lithographer, and watercolorist Jakob Alt. He learned a great deal from his father and further honed his skills as a student at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Inspiration from Untouched Nature

The wild and untouched nature always served as the main source of inspiration for Alt. He traveled extensively, primarily on foot, through the Austrian Alps and northern Italy. The breathtaking landscapes he encountered during these journeys were immortalized on canvas using ordinary watercolors.
