American citizens who confessed to espionage for the Soviet Union, primarily by passing on American nuclear secrets. David Greenglass was convicted and served 10 years in prison, while Ruth was never tried. They both cooperated with the investigation and became notorious for testifying against their close relatives, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, whose veracity has been questioned.
