Biography of Sage Kotsenburg
Sage Kotsenburg, an American snowboarder, achieved his dream of qualifying for and winning the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to realtor Steve Kotsenburg and Carol Ann, Sage grew up in Park City, Utah. He first started snowboarding at the age of five, influenced by his older brother Blaze. Today, Sage and his brothers Blaze and Jeremy continue to actively snowboard together, although Sage is the only one who has excelled in the sport at a professional level. Sage's mother acts as his personal agent, while his brother Blaze and sister Kirra also pursue snowboarding professionally.

Career Highlights
Sage Kotsenburg began competing nationally at the age of 12 and quickly made a name for himself in the sport. In 2010, he won second place at the European X Games and took home silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games XVI in Aspen, Colorado in 2012. In 2011, Sage made history by successfully executing a double cork 1440, a trick that involves a 1440-degree rotation, at the Air&Style competition in Innsbruck. That same year, he placed third at the Arctic Challenge and became a member of the US slopestyle team. Although he earned a bronze medal in the big air event at the 2011 Winter X Games XV, he narrowly missed out on gold and silver. Sage spends his summers training at the High Cascade Snowboard Camp on Mt. Hood, sometimes practicing alone to focus on perfecting new tricks.

2014 Winter Olympic Games
Sage Kotsenburg's debut on the international stage came at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Despite finishing eighth in the slopestyle qualifiers, he improved his performance in the semifinals and secured second place. Sage's victory at the Olympics can be attributed to a new trick he had never attempted before. With his innovative grab, known as the Holy Crail, Sage surpassed his competitors and became the first snowboarder to win an Olympic gold medal in slopestyle. Additionally, his victory marked the first medal event of the Sochi Games.

Life After the Olympics
It is uncertain what Sage Kotsenburg's plans are after the Olympics. Initially, he expressed his dream of simply qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Having exceeded his original goal, Sage may now be contemplating his next life achievement. In his free time away from training, he enjoys traveling to new countries with the assistance of his mother. Sage also spends time with friends and enjoys playing video games as his hobbies.
