Early Life and Acting Career

Born in Tajikistan on June 6, 1947, to a Tajik father and a Russian mother, Saydo Kurbonov's early life shaped his diverse cultural background. His father was an educator and school principal. Kurbonov's acting career began in 1965 at the "Tojikfilm" studio. In 1976, he landed his first leading role in the children's film-fairy tale "Otvazhny Shirak."

Directing Debut and Theatre

In 1975, Kurbonov graduated from the directing faculty of VGIK, studying under Igor Talankin and Yefim Dzigan. His directing debut with the film "Zolotaya Strela" earned him the "Best Directorial Debut" award at the All-Union Festival of Sports Films. From 1991 to 2004, he directed several successful plays at the Magnitogorsk Drama Theater.

Filmography

Besides his acting debut in 1968, Kurbonov's notable roles include the Baghdad Thief in "Glyadi Veseley" (1980), Aashur in "Osada" (1990), and Gul in "Vstrecha v Ushchelye Smerti" (1992). From the 2000s onward, he actively participated in television series, such as "Speznaz 2" (2003), "Vyishibala" (2005), and "Zolotaya Orda" (2011).

Directing Career

As a director, Kurbonov has helmed popular series such as "Labirinty Lyubvi," "General'skaya Vnucha," "Marshrut Miloserdiya," and "Naidenysh-3." His contributions to the world of cinema have received critical acclaim.

Personal Life

Kurbonov's first wife was the daughter of a high-ranking police official. His second wife, Uzbek actress Farida Muminova, met him in the 1980s and collaborated on numerous films and plays. They have a son, Iskander, and a grandson. Kurbonov is an avid hockey fan and supports the "Metallurg" team from Magnitogorsk.
