Early CareerSalomon Kalou is an Ivorian footballer who currently plays as a forward for Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga. His professional career began in 2003 when he was signed by Feyenoord from the Dutch Eredivisie for a fee of €4 million.
Feyenoord and "Footballer of the Year" Accolade
Kalou impressed during his time at Feyenoord, scoring 35 goals in 67 matches. His exceptional performances earned him the prestigious title of Dutch Footballer of the Year in 2005.
Chelsea and Super Cup Debut
In August 2006, Kalou joined Chelsea FC and made his debut in the FA Community Shield match against Liverpool. He scored his first goal for the club in October against Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup. In his first season at Chelsea, Kalou scored nine goals and featured in 58 of the club's 64 matches.
Season 2010/11: Goal Machine Off the Bench
Despite facing competition from Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, Kalou continued to make a significant contribution to Chelsea. In the 2010/11 season, he scored five goals in just seven substitute appearances.
Departure from Chelsea
Kalou's contract with Chelsea expired at the end of the 2011/12 season, and he departed the club as a free agent.
