Biography of Sam Robards
Sam Prideaux Robards was born on December 16, 1961, in New York City, to the family of actors Jason Robards and Lauren Bacall. His acting career started in 1980 with an off-Broadway play called "Album," which led to his entry into the world of big-screen movies. His first major film was "Tempest" in 1982, directed by Paul Mazursky.
Personal Life
In 1985, Robards married fellow actress Suzy Amis. They soon welcomed their son, Jasper, but unfortunately, they divorced in 1993. Four years later, in 1997, Sam married Danish model Sidsel Jensen, with whom he had two children.
Collaboration with Family
Robards had the opportunity to work with his father in the 1988 film "Bright Lights, Big City," the only project where they acted together. Sadly, his father passed away in 2000. He also appeared alongside his mother in Robert Altman's film "Prêt-à-Porter" in 1993.
Acting Career
By 1994, Robards had already appeared in several notable films, including "Fandango," "Casualties of War," "American Beauty," "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence," "Life as a House," and "The Other Side of the Tracks." He also achieved success on Broadway, receiving a Tony Award in 2002 for "The Man Who Had All the Luck" by Arthur Miller.
Television Work
Robards expanded his career to television, appearing in series such as "Get a Life," "Spin City," "The West Wing," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," and "Sex and the City." One of his recent television projects was the series "Gossip Girl."
Recent Projects
In July 2008, Robards took on the role of Richard Hannay in the New York theater production of "The 39 Steps." He continues to pursue acting opportunities across various mediums and continues to leave his mark on the entertainment industry.
